I am an active volunteer with Association for India’s Development (AID) Bay Area chapter. I used to volunteer with AID Chennai chapter. I have been fortunate to work with the likes of Balaji Sampath and Ravishankar who are pillars of AID Chennai. They are great visionaries who are able to think ahead of their times and bring about positive change in the society.

There is a famous quote that “We make a living by what we do, but we make a life by what we give”. I got an opportunity to derive the true meaning out of this quote. I have always wanted to do something for underprivileged children, especially for girls. That’s why I was concerned for a small girl named Komal. I used to talk to her about her studies. One day, I got a chance to speak with komal’s parents.

History has shown time and again that individuals can bring about large scale positive change in the world by seemingly insignificant acts. Teaching less privileged children is one such powerful act which can go a long way in removing illiteracy and solving many other problems in India. |
