Hi aiders, Its a great initiative not only because it'll help the cause we are working for but also in making people more aware of environment-related issues. And accumulated over the years, the network of people spreading this message & following it will significantly increase. Hopefully, it'll be contagious enough to keep pollution levels under control! -Riputapan Singh |
Thanx for the link.. I really did not know the magnitude of pollution caused by fire crackers.. I'll try and pass on the message. -Sarani (Kolkata) |
Hey AID, u gotta thumbs UP from me buddy! I'm gonna try 'n dissuade as many as I can, from buying crackers! Choke pollution and eliminate child Labour!!! We don't want no kid rolling gunpowder in paper for senseless entertainment! -Shraddha (Bangalore) |
The posters are fine - I feel they should be supported with facts. It would be difficult for the message Say no 2 crackers because it causes pollution to be effective - coz its seems more like preaching we should support the flyers with facts and probably insist on "Reduce" the use rather than NO! -Archana (Pennsylvania) |
I am not using crackers from past 4-5 years and very happy to hear about the awareness movement you folks have started. I would like to be a part of it. -Gordhan Singh (Bangalore) |
| Anushree (University Park, PA): Thankyou for sending the message. Will forward it (though some of us have been propagating "no-cracker" Diwali for quite a gew years now. And I anyway will not be celebrating Diwali). Wish you a very happy Diwali (in advance). |

Debjani (Mumbai) : I wont allow anyone around me to burst crackers. |
| I dont burst crackers anymore these days. Earlier I used to spend Rs. 5000 on crackers. During my school days I used to participate in "NO TO CRACKERS" campaigns. The campaigns usually consisted of street plays highlighting the hazards of crackers- Tanika (Delhi) |
Agreed that bursting crackers cause a lot of harm to the environment..hope we also start creating awarenss on the mess and the pollution created by immersing the idols of the revered Goddess Durga.I do understand the religious sentiments of bengalis associated with this tradition, as it symbolizes the cyclic regeneration. While traditionally the ingredients to make the idol used to come from the holy rivers, the use of chemicals have gained unprecedented proportions in the recent years. Do we hope to start an awarenss campaign on the use of bio-degradable material to be used for making idols? I think we need not wait for the next time to begin creating awareness on this issue, as we all know that the preparations for Durga Puja begin soon after the festival is over- Puneeta (Delhi) |
I said NO TO CRACKERS long time back.......this will be my 4th Diwali with lots of sweets but no crackers - Yamini (Delhi)
|
Avantina : hey! before saying no to crackers think of the crores of ppl employed in this profession....instead to killing the cracker fever its better to say yes to community fireworks..like the world over!!!! this will help both the causes..and advocate eco friendly crackers..think of a larger picture !!! |
Prajakta : thnx for ur effort...hope the "no to crackers" doesnt limit itself to diwali....:) |
Yoginee: i always say no to crackers, since when i remember. :-) |
Savitha : i support u too in the "no crackers this diwali" |
| Amrita : Support u completely... |
