AID Delhi's interaction with Parichay started in May 2004 and since then involvement has increased and Parichay has seen many successful events.
Krishna and Somendra go to Parichay to teach children and youth respectively. In addition to that Sambit is actively involved in marketting initiatives for the products made by the children as a part of their vocational training exercises.
An important difference after AID Delhi's involvement has been a clearer focus on sustainability of the initiative. While efforts were already being made to generate funds, but the situation was never very comfortable. AID Delhi's involvement resulted in additional volunteers for the center. Work got distributed and things started moving faster. Stalls are now organized more regularly and classes for youth have started. The benefits have prompted the women to volunteer for forming a self-help group where they want to take up activities.
And ask a volunteer who goes to Parichay and you will be see a twinkle in his eyes, a smile on the lips and excitement in the voice. The children are so loving and the people so respectful that going there for just a few hours a week is very fulfilling.
